Meepo privacy policy
Last updated
This policy covers the Meepo app. It is published by Jonathyn Major, doing business as Arbitrary Softworks.
Who Meepo is for
Meepo is not for children under 13. If we find that an account belongs to a child under 13, we delete it.
What Meepo’s server stores
Signing in is required. Meepo’s server runs on Supabase, which stores its data in the United States, in Amazon Web Services’ US East (Northern Virginia) region. The server keeps what it needs to run your account:
- your sign-in, which is either Google or an email one-time code. It stores:
- your email address
- if you sign in with Google, the name and profile picture Google shares with Meepo
- your handle
- your goals: title, shape, cadence, target and unit
- your check-ins: done or missed, amount, day, and the time recorded
- your coin ledger
- your goal ratings
- a record of each goal you remove, which holds only the goal’s id and the date
- counts of requests and tokens used, which hold no content
Supabase, the company that hosts Meepo’s server, also keeps service logs. They hold records of sign-ins, including your email address and IP address, and are erased after up to 7 days.
What stays only on your phone
- Your chat history is stored only on your phone. It is never sent to Meepo’s server to be kept, and the server stores none of it.
- Goal tags, your house, your inventory and Meepo’s appearance.
The database on your phone is encrypted, and Android backup is turned off for the app.
What OpenAI receives
Meepo uses OpenAI to write replies and to rate how hard a goal is. The app never contacts OpenAI directly. Requests go through Meepo’s server, which sends no user ID and keeps no transcript.
- For chat, OpenAI receives the conversation (up to 200 messages), your goal titles, what is due today, your recent completions, and any misses you have written about.
- For a difficulty rating, OpenAI receives a goal’s title, shape, cadence, target and unit.
Meepo’s server tells OpenAI not to store requests for later retrieval. OpenAI keeps abuse-monitoring logs, which can include what a request contained, for up to 30 days. At the time of writing, OpenAI states that data sent to its API is not used to train its models unless a customer opts in. See OpenAI’s data controls page for its current terms.
What Meepo does not use
No analytics, no crash reporting, no advertising, no advertising IDs, no Firebase and no push notifications. Reminders are scheduled on your phone as local notifications, and their text includes a goal title.
Permissions
In the release app: internet access, notifications, and restarting your reminders after the phone reboots.
Deleting your account
You can delete your account and everything Meepo’s server holds about you on the delete your account page. Copies can remain in the service logs and backups of Supabase, the company that hosts Meepo’s server, for up to 7 days, and are then erased. The logs hold records of sign-ins, including your email address and IP address. Data on your phone stays there until you uninstall the app. Android backup is off, so uninstalling removes it.
Changes
Meepo does not yet have subscriptions through Google Play, data export, syncing of your house, items and Meepo’s look between devices, or new features that may store more about your goals. This policy is updated whenever Meepo changes what it collects, including the items above, and before they arrive. The date at the top shows when it last changed.
